Hyundai Merchant Marine, Hanjin Shipping and Yang Ming Marine Transportation Corp. have announced that they will launch a joint Far East-Central and South America sea freight service in July, 2015.
Named the West Latin Express (WLX), the service will be operated with 10 vessels of 5,500 TEU on a weekly basis. The port rotation is as below:
Shekou, China; Kaohsiung, Taiwan; Ningbo, China; Shanghai, China; Busan, South Korea; Manzanillo, Mexico; Buenaventura, Colombia; Callao, Peru; Valparaiso, Chile; San Vicente, Chile; Manzanillo; Busan; Shekou.
Meanwhile, partner carriers expect the introduction of the service to improve transit times and provide port coverage from Asia to the west coast of Latin America and vice versa.
