Yusen Logistics has announced plans to expand its collaborative network servicing final mile distribution requirements across Europe within the healthcare sector. The expanded service is expected to manage in-market supply to end users such as hospitals, pharmacies, doctors, dentists, wholesalers and vaccination centres.
Yusen Logistics states that healthcare manufacturers are increasingly searching for innovative end-to-end solutions to move their products throughout the supply chain, whilst maintaining a stringent temperature regime at all times. Maximising availability of stock, whilst minimising risk in the supply chain are driving the growing demand.
Yusen’s new service is dedicated to the requirements of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, with over 50,000 delivery points. Yusen currently makes 20,000 deliveries per week across 36 countries. The Control Tower managed Yusen network offers customers management of the in-market transport providers and the ability to maximise economies of scale in the purchase of in-market freight lanes.
Yusen Logistics General Manager Healthcare, Matthew Ray said, “This innovation gives Yusen a unique position across the pharmaceutical supply chain, offering a complete end-to-end service from raw material to patients across the whole of Europe. Yusen’s European Pharmaceutical Superhighway is already contracted to carry over 1.6m pallets this year. Growth is set to continue as more manufacturers buy into its high security services including cross border, temperature controlled coverage, with flexible GDP compliant solutions, ensuring complete product integrity and legislative compliance.”
