Wincanton announced that it has won a new contract with Halfords, a UK retailer of automotive, cycling and leisure products and an independent operator in garage servicing and auto repair, to be sole operator of its national transport contract.
The contract will see Wincanton operate more than 80 vehicles as it oversees the distribution of the retailer’s goods from its operational base in Coventry, UK, as well as other UK sites in Redditch, Bury, Mossend, Portbury and Greenford.
Halfords awarded the contract to Wincanton after an initial distribution project was launched to establish more efficient delivery management for the retailer. During this period Wincanton claims that it demonstrated its expertise in change management and provided guidance on how Halfords can manage its infrastructure to improve service and efficiency.
