Swissport expands its air cargo services in Austria with JV

Swissport International announced that it has expanded its air cargo operations in Austria with its new joint venture with Graz Airport, Swissport Cargo Services Graz. The joint venture will provide cargo services at Graz Airport in Austria, handling approximately 10,000 tonnes of air cargo per year. Swissport International is a provider of ground handling services for air cargo.

The joint venture will operate a facility located on the premises of the airport itself, giving it direct access and enabling it provide immediate handling services for air cargo.

“Over the last months, we have led intense talks with Swissport International in order to lift the future of the cargo business at Flughafen Graz onto an even better basis”, explained Wolfgang Malik, Chairman of the Board of the Holding Graz, and Gerhard Widmann, Managing Director of Graz Airport. “Our aim was a close cooperation, which would lead to an expansion of cargo activities and the service offering as well as an improvement of the service quality, all of which would ultimately profit not only Graz Airport but also the economy of Styria.”
