Daimler renews contract with Rhenus UK

Automotive manufacturer Daimler has awarded Rhenus Logistics UK a five year contract renewal. The continued partnership will service 67 collection points across the UK and Ireland, delivering automotive parts to 40 production destinations in Germany.

Daimler has worked with Rhenus UK since October 2010, providing reverse delivery for original equipment manufacturers across the UK and Ireland. Rhenus states that the contract has been renewed due to the success of Rhenus’ partnership approach and the strength of Daimler’s 30 year relationship with Rhenus in Germany.

David Williams, Managing Director of Rhenus UK said, “Securing the contract is a real testament to the service we have delivered over the past five years. Importantly, we take a partnership approach to our business so we understand the unique challenges automotive manufacturers face. We therefore tailor our service accordingly by creating a short supply chain and using our secure network of facilities and trusted personnel to deliver results.”

Rhenus manages the logistics service for the automotive manufacturer from its centrally located Automotive Competence Centre in Cannock, UK. Darren Cater, who runs the facility in Cannock said, “We manage the service from our Cannock facility which allows us to use our team of experienced automotive logistics specialists to ensure all elements of the supply chain run efficiently. We use three facilities in Bradford (UK), Basildon (UK) and Dublin (Ireland) to service the North, South and Ireland. All goods are then trunked to Cannock and transported via a complete round-trip service using our dedicated fleet of 20 truck trailers to Germany. Plus, all packaging is then redelivered to suppliers for re-use, saving both time and money.”
