Dachser has announced it has launched its own road logistics branch in Turkey. The new site in Istanbul is expected to be linked up to the European groupage network via the Cargoplus organization.
The team of Dachser Turkey Lojistik Hizmetleri A.S. plans to improve service for existing distribution and procurement customers in Turkey while also setting up its own import and export transport operations with links to the Dachser’s European groupage network. Dachser is already present at the Istanbul and Izmir sites with its Business Field Air & Sea Logistics.
Wolfgang Reinel, Managing Director European logistics North Central Europe, who is in charge of Dachser’s road logistics business in Turkey said, “Turkey is an interesting market for logistics: the economy is developing at a rapid pace, the population is young and growing at a rate above the European average,” adding “We have been developing transport operations in Turkey over the last few years. Now it is time to take the next steps to ensure that our customers there are able to profit from the advantages offered by uniform Dachser IT systems—in particular Tracking & Tracing. In close collaboration with our air and sea freight organization, we want to approach certain segments of the Turkish growth sectors of consumer goods, automotive and textiles/fashion with a holistic, intermodal logistics strategy.”
Dachser Turkey Road is to be headed up by Erkan Basak who has almost 25 years’ experience in logistics.
