Allcargo Logistics has been granted permission to provide 24/7 customs operations at its container freight station (CFS) at the Chennai Port.
“With our Chennai CFS becoming functional 24/7, we will be able to expand our customer outreach significantly and provide our clients with state-of-the-art cargo handling services at any hour of the day. This development has boosted our resolve to continually improve our service competencies and build a robust pan-India CFS network to facilitate seamless cargo consolidation. We recognize the invaluable contribution of our employees in working committedly and tirelessly for this stellar achievement to bear fruition,” stated Prakash Tulsiani, CEO – CFS-ICD, Allcargo Logistics.
Customs officers will be deployed in 3 shifts to ensure that the station is manned between 11:00 am-2:00 am. According to Allcargo, the development will ensure zero waiting time for stuffing of export containers, and it will provide a 24/7 export carting facility for customers. The CFS is equipped with technology that allows for tracking of containers through passive RFID tags.
The Chennai CFS is 9 km from the Chennai port. Currently, the Chennai CFS, spread over 24 acres, handles a significant proportion of import volume at the Port of Chennai. It specializes in the areas of LCL and FCL and provides cargo consolidation services to customers. The CFS also handles hazardous cargo and ODC and features RTG cranes.
