Amazon PayCode launches in the US

Amazon PayCode has launched in the US, giving customers who prefer to pay in cash another option when shopping on Amazon. The service is already available in 19 countries around the world.

Amazon PayCode joins Amazon Cash which has expanded to more than 15,000 Western Union agent locations and now offers two options for customers that want to pay in cash with no added fees.

Items will be shipped once customers pay for their purchase in person at a participating Western Union location. Amazon PayCode will be rolling out to US customers in the next few weeks. Separately, Amazon Cash, which enables customers to load cash into their Amazon Balance for making online Amazon purchases, is now available in over 100,000 cash-loading locations nationwide. Customers in the US who prefer to use cash are now able to enjoy Amazon’s selection, low prices, and fast, free shipping with no fees.

According to The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, in 2018, 77% of payments in the US were made in-person. Cash accounted for 39% of the volume of in-person payments. With the launch of Amazon PayCode and expansion of Amazon Cash, customers will have additional options to pay for their Amazon purchases in cash. With over 15,000 eligible locations, 80% of Americans live within five miles of a participating Western Union agent location making this a convenient solution for customers paying with cash.
