Arvato expands site in Düren

Arvato has announced plans to expand its Düren site to a total of around 85,000 sq m of logistics space. For that purpose, an 11,000 sq m hall module will be built by July 2018.

Arvato say the capacity expansion is required because the transaction volume for a customer, a leading global beauty and cosmetics company, is expected to increase by more than 50 percent in the near future. The client will then use about 50,000 sq m of logistics space in the multi-brand distribution centre.

Stefan Mayer, Executive Vice President at Arvato SCM Solutions, said: “This makes Düren one of our most important distribution centres for beauty products with solutions and infrastructures that have been specially tailored to the requirements of the industry and the client.”

Arvato had already leased a temporary external warehouse in Krefeld in the summer of 2017, which is expected to be used for the short-term storage and distribution of cosmetic products by the beginning of 2019 in order to cope with the increased volume required for the expansion in Düren.

The integration of the additional product quantities at the site in Düren is combined with a reorganization of the customer’s international supply chain. The logistics centre is located between Cologne and Aachen, directly on the A4 motorway. The site will act as a global central warehouse for all of the customer’s luxury products. From there, Europe-wide deliveries are made daily to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Benelux countries, Italy, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.
