bpost group, the Belgian mail and logistics company, has agreed to acquire Staci in a €1.3 billion deal that will accelerate its transformation into a regional leader in high value, flexible logistics services.
Founded in 1989 and based in Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône, France, Staci is a contract logistics provider specializing in complex orders involving multi-reference packages, single-unit picking, and distribution to multiple delivery points. The company offers warehousing, distribution, freight forwarding, and valued-added services for B2B, B2C, direct-to-consumer and e-commerce customers.
Staci has grown to become an international player, employing over 3,500 people worldwide. It has a strong presence in Europe, especially in France, the UK, Spain and Italy. Staci has also expanded into the United States, China and other regions to support its clients’ growth. The company operates a network of 79 logistics hubs spanning over 900,000 square meters of warehouse space.
With revenues of €771 million in 2023 and an EBITDA margin of 14%, Staci has delivered strong financial performance underpinned by an asset-light business model with low capital expenditure requirements. The company serves over 2,000 blue-chip clients across diverse sectors like pharmaceuticals, healthcare, high-tech, FMCG, retail, telecom and others.
The acquisition of Staci represents a major strategic move for bpost as it transitions from a traditional postal operator into an international third-party logistics provider focused on high value-added, flexible logistics services across B2B, B2C and omnichannel segments.
Staci brings expertise in complex logistics like multi-reference orders and last mile capabilities that complement bpost’s existing mail and parcel networks and cross-border services. The deal expands bpost’s European presence while giving it a foothold in the United States and Asia logistics markets through Staci’s international network. Combining Staci’s capabilities like warehousing and fulfillment with bpost’s transportation management allows offering integrated end-to-end logistics solutions. While bpost is strong in B2C, the acquisition gives it greater access to the B2B logistics market where Staci has proven expertise. bpost expects significant operational and commercial synergies from pooling transportation, optimizing warehouse utilization, joint procurement and cross-selling.
The €1.3 billion enterprise value represents a 16 EBITDA multiple for Staci. bpost aims to fund the deal through bridge financing and available cash reserves. The acquisition is expected to close later in the year after regulatory approvals.
