Cathay Pacific has announced the introduction of a twice-weekly freighter service to Portland from November 3, pending US government approval.
The route will operate on a Hong Kong – Anchorage – Los Angeles – Portland – Anchorage – Hong Kong loop every Thursday and Saturday, served by a Boeing 747-8F.
Cathay Pacific expects to transport high volumes of semi-finished footwear and apparel, electronics and perishables from Portland to Asia. The airline also asserts that Portland is a fast growing hub for e-commerce shipments.
