CEVA Logistics has announced the completion of the installation of autonomous mobile robots (AMR) from Geek+ at its warehouse in Truganina, Melbourne.
Implemented by Körber Supply Chain, the Geek+ AMRs move mobile inventory racks and pallets to picking stations, saving employees time that would otherwise be spent walking around the 500,000 sq m warehouse finding and picking inventory.
Lit Fung, managing director for APAC, UK and Americas at Geek+, commented: “The accelerated demand for fast order fulfillment has created a challenging scenario for businesses everywhere. By using smart robot automation, we foresee that CEVA will gain a competitive advantage.”
Milton Pimenta, CEVA Logistics’ managing director for Australia and New Zealand, added: “Thanks to Geek+’s AMR technology, we now have a very fast and efficient picking productivity and throughput solution.”
Following the project’s implementation, CEVA said it saw an immediate improvement in key performance indicators, most notably a fourfold increase in picking efficiency.
