DHL eCommerce enters Saudi Arabian market by acquiring equity stake in parcel logistics company AJEX

DHL Express

DHL eCommerce is poised to make a strategic move into the Saudi Arabian e-commerce parcel market by acquiring a minority stake in AJEX Logistics Services. This partnership underscores DHL’s expansion into a rapidly growing sector within the Middle East, bolstering its long-standing presence in Saudi Arabia since the 1970s.

AJEX, established in 2021, has swiftly established itself as a leading player in the Saudi domestic parcel market, offering extensive reach and robust growth.

As part of DHL’s Strategy 2030 ‘Accelerate Sustainable Growth’, this entry into Saudi Arabia aligns with the region’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify industries and bolster economic development, with logistics serving as a pivotal pillar.

With a workforce of 1,500 and a fleet of over 900 vehicles, AJEX is well-equipped to meet rising demands, further strengthened by DHL’s international parcel operations expertise.

The partnership, contingent upon regulatory approvals, grants DHL eCommerce the option to increase its stake in AJEX to a majority share, ensuring a deep-rooted collaboration. This move will see all four of DHL Group’s international divisions actively engaged within the Saudi market, marking a comprehensive engagement in the region’s logistics landscape.

While the deal awaits regulatory approval, it represents a significant step for DHL in fortifying its foothold in the Middle Eastern e-commerce parcel sector, poised to provide enhanced service offerings through its established global network.
