Fiege has opened a new multi-user centre in Gengenbach, Germany. The 73,000 sq m large plot of land is located near the border of France and Germany, nestled between Strasbourg, Freiburg and Stuttgart. A three-storey office building plus four warehouse segments have been built here which offer around 40,000 sq m of storage space to a variety of clients, including a major tyres maker. Operations are scheduled to start in October.
Logistics real estate company, LIP Invest, had previously acquired the project development under a forward deal and invested over €50m into the new building. “The acquisition of the multi-user centre supports a further expansion of our portfolio’s location allocation. The property convinces not only with its locality, but also its quality and cutting-edge architecture. The warehouse segments are easily sub-divided and the many loading bays promote extensive capacities for alternative uses”, said Bodo Hollung, executive partner of LIP Invest.
The multi-user centre in Gengenbach is used by Fiege’s Industry and Tyres business unit. Christian Wierling, Managing Director of the business unit at Fiege, explained: “Strategically speaking, Gengenbach is an extremely valuable location for our Tyres business unit. It offers clients the possibility to cover Germany’s south, Switzerland, and France even better.” Also, the facility in Gengenbach forms the perfect extension to the Fiege location based in Lahr in the Black Forrest, roughly 30km away, Wierling added.
