GAC Dubai has started construction of a new contract logistics facility which will see its total capacity serving local and regional markets increase to over 200,000 pallet positions.
The facility in Dubai South adds to the company’s existing facilities in the Jebel Ali and Dubai Airport Free Zones.
GAC asserts that it opened the Middle East’s first distribution centre in Dubai in 1993, claiming that its 103,000 sq m “GAC Logistics Park” is still one of the region’s largest and most advanced facilities.
The 72,900 pallet warehouse in Dubai South will be capable of serving customers in sectors such as fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), food and beverage, in addition to healthcare and beauty products classed as dangerous goods. GAC plans to offer an “extensive range of Value Added Services”.
The site is expected to commence operations in January 2018.
