German and pan-European logistics provider, B+S GmbH Logistik und Dienstleistungen, is expanding its presence in the Bremen Central Freight Terminal (GVZ) with a new 30,000 sq m logistics centre built by Goodman.
B+S Logistik will be the first customer in the new facility, which has been designed with flexibility in mind to accommodate the different needs of more customers in this popular location. In addition to the 30,000 sq m warehouse space, 1,000 sq m are reserved for offices and social rooms, and a 2,500 sq m mezzanine. Construction will start at the end of March and completion is scheduled for Autumn 2019.
B+S Logistik currently has more than 650 employees and operates 12 locations in Germany, with 300,000 sq m in total. The company provides a full range of logistics services including warehouse logistics and e-commerce fulfilment and requires logistics facilities that are located close to transport and urban centres to deliver goods quickly for its customers. It will mainly use the additional capacities in Bremen for an existing customer as well as for prospective land creation.
Christof Prange, Head of Business Development at Goodman, said, “We always look to the future and strive to proactively acquire and develop properties in prime locations, where our customers will want to be. This can be a real challenge in Germany due to the scarcity of available landbanks in those areas. That’s why we don’t just consider greenfield sites, but we have developed our expertise in complex redevelopments on brownfield locations that are in high demand from customers such as B+S Logistik. Bremen is an important logistics location where we have previously developed more than 160,000 sq m of logistics properties for Daimler, BLG and Mdexx.”
