Hermes’ new distribution centre is being built near Bremen, Germany, and will commence operations in October 2020. Construction has started at the site which was planned by the Bremen-based company Peper & Söhne Projekt GmbH, in cooperation with Goldbeck Nord GmbH.

The centre will be approximately 5,000 sq m and run up to 80 journeys per day at first. The facility it set to employ more than 100 employees and handle more than 50,000 shipments every day, this is planned to increase in the future.

“With the new distribution centre, we can deliver to the city of Bremen and the surrounding area even faster and more efficiently. In addition, we are very future-oriented with our sustainable building concept and the planned charging infrastructure for our e-van fleet of 10 vehicles,” explained Christian Helbig, Head of Real Estate & Facility Management at Hermes Germany.
