Kuehne + Nagel is looking to optimize its overland transport fleet within the scope of an initiative to increase road safety and reduce exhaust emissions. It is planned that the company will only purchase models that come equipped with a turning assistant. All vehicles will also meet strict standards for fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Kuehne + Nagel is extensively testing three different technical solutions used for turning assistants: optical, radar-based and ultrasound-assisted systems.
Uwe Hött, Senior Vice President Overland at Kuehne + Nagel commented, “To offer our customers the best possible service, we need a young and highly modern vehicle fleet. Following on from recent and still ongoing major investments in the expansion of our pharma trailer fleet, the acquisition of 350 motor vehicles this year enables us to further strengthen our position in the French and German markets, both of which are key growth drivers for our overland business”.
