Maersk strengthens its Contract Logistics & Distribution footprint in Vietnam

Maersk has opened a second pharmaceutical warehouse at its warehousing and distribution centre in Mszczonów, near Warsaw.

A.P. Moller-Maersk has announced it is strengthening its contract logistics and distribution capabilities in Vietnam with three new facilities coming into operation in Song Than and Bac Ninh. These warehouses, together with the other 11 self-managed facilities in the country, aims to enhance Maersk’s logistics capacity for future growth in Vietnam.

Our commitment to the Vietnam’s market resulted in a significant increase of our logistics footprint by adding 3 warehouses with total 38,000 sq m in last quarter 2020 and first quarter 2021 in pursuing our growth ambition with speed and agility. Our mission is to constantly improve our capabilities in logistics and services so that we can better serve the surging demand in import and export while enabling Maersk to gradually become one of the top logistics service providers in the country driven by our customer centric approach,” said Marco Civardi, Managing Director of Maersk Vietnam, Cambodia & Myanmar.

“Our commitment to the Vietnam’s market resulted in a significant increase of our logistics footprint by adding 3 warehouses with total 38,000 s qm in last quarter 2020 and first quarter 2021 in pursuing our growth ambition with speed and agility”, added Civardi.

Equipped with multiple racking systems, strong rooms, security cameras and sprinkler systems, the three new facilities intend to improve the inventory management experience for clients from Europe, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam as well as enabling Maersk’s clientele to have a more efficient supply chain.

Located 25km from Ho Chi Minh City, the new distribution centres in Song Than aim to offer Contract Logistics and Distribution service to support the trade growth in South Vietnam. These two facilities are 10,000 sq m and 9,700 sq m respectively, which will cater for the needs from customers in the Tech, FMCG and Retail sectors.

Maersk is also doubling down the logistic footprint in North Vietnam by expanding the scale of its new facility in Bac Ninh, 23km from the capital Hanoi and 120km from the Hai Phong port, according to the company. By scaling up the area to a combined 29,000 sq m, the Bac Ninh facilities are intended to enable Maersk to offer end-to-end solutions to customers located in the area of North Vietnam.
