Posti have announced plans to build a new terminal in Vantaa, Finland. The new building will enable Posti to centralise its operations by replacing its current terminals in Veturitie, Helsinki; Virkatie, Vantaa and Huurrekuja, Tuusula.
YIT will be developing the new 26,000 sq m terminal within one of the company’s specialised premises, K3 Logistics. Situated next to Helsinki Vantaa airport, the location is also close to Posti’s logistics centre and service warehouse in Vantaa. Furthermore, a nearby ring road will give it better access Vuosaari Harbour, an important channel for Posti’s transport network.
Jaakko Kaidesoja, Head of Posti’s Transport services, said: “The location of the new terminal is optimal, both from the point of view of Posti and the material flows of our customers. The terminal meets the growing needs arising from higher freight volumes.”
Preparatory work on the project is due to begin immediately. Actual construction will start in March 2017, with completion due in September 2018.
