Sinotrans launches scheduled freight route from Hangzhou to East Midlands

On November 23, a B747F cargo plane operated by Sinotrans, loaded with cross-border e-commerce packages, mechanical parts and other goods, took off from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport to arrive at East Midlands Airport in the UK at 5:00 p.m. (local time) on November 23. This marks the official opening of Hangzhou-East Midlands scheduled cargo route of Sinotrans, which is also the first all cargo flight from Hangzhou to the UK. The one-way capacity of the flight is 100 tons and operates on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays every week. It will operate on a regular basis later.

In recent years, the trade relations between China and the UK are continuously strengthening. Previously, the transit cargo flights from China to the UK were time-consuming with high cost, while the direct cargo flight capacity around Yangtze River Delta region did not match the customer’s need on cargo volume. Therefore, the demand for direct cargo flight from Hangzhou to the UK has been constantly increasing. In order to meet customer needs and actively expand capacity resources, Sinotrans collaborated with the British all cargo airline company ONE AIR to jointly design the direct all cargo flight route from Hangzhou to East Midlands.

With the opening of this direct freight route, Sinotrans can not only provide customers with full cargo transport capacity, but also shorten transportation time by 1-2 days, with the shortest transportation time of 16 hours. It greatly improves transportation efficiency and provides more stable and efficient logistics support for cross-border e-commerce and high-end manufacturing brands going global.

East Midlands is located in the heart of the UK and is an important transportation hub connecting England, Scotland, and Wales. It has a well-developed logistics infrastructure that can provide efficient ground support for air cargo. The opening of this route will provide various Chinese e-commerce products, mechanical parts, and other goods for the UK and surrounding areas, and promote trade and supply chain system between China and the UK.

Hangzhou is one of the key cities for Siontrans’ air cargo capacity layout. At present, Sinotrans has operated multiple all cargo round-trip routes between Liège, Dubai, etc. and Hangzhou, covering Europe, America, the Middle East, and other regions. The route between Hangzhou and East Midlands is a new measure taken by Sinotrans to actively create “new business model of carrier” and accelerate the formation of new quality productivity. It will effectively enrich and improve the operation network of the Hangzhou base, strengthen the construction of the Hangzhou route base, expand the East China regional market of Sinotrans, and consolidate competitive advantage in Yangtze River Delta. The route also plays a positive role in promoting the development of the aviation economy of Zhejiang Province, facilitating the development of foreign trade, cross-border e-commerce, and international logistics in Yangtze River Delta. In the future, Sinotrans will continue to strengthen cooperation with Hangzhou Airport in deepening route layout and port construction, actively participate in the construction of Global Smart Logistics Hub, enhance the ground operation service capabilities of Hangzhou Port, and effectively improve the stability and resilience of the aviation supply chain.

Sinotrans will continue to promote the “new business model of carrier”, seize the development opportunities of international air logistics policies, accelerate the resources layout of domestic and international important port hubs and international trunk logistics, and further create safe, stable, smooth, and efficient international air logistics channels.
