Universal Logistics Holdings reports year-end revenues of $1.5bn

Universal Logistics have reported strong sales growth for 2018. Total revenues were $1.46bn, up 20.1% year-on-year. This is the highest ever reported in the company’s history.

“We (Universal) reported double-digit revenue growth in each quarter of 2018” stated CEO Jeff Rogers.

Its operating income increased to $83.8m from $25.2m the previous year. Net income also increased to $52.2m from $28.2m the previous year.

The strongest operations segment over the full year was Brokerage services. On a year-on-year basis, this segment experienced a 32.1% increase in revenue to $367.6m after it carried 13.4% more loads.  Truckload services had the lowest revenue increase of 3.6% to $313.8m and saw a decrease of 8.5% in the number of loads. Intermodal services had significant revenue growth of 63.3% to $251.1m, guided by an increase of 84.5% in number of loads. Lastly, Dedicated services revenue grew by 29.4% to $121.0m with number of loads also increasing by 21.4%.
