UPS has announced the completion of its acquisition of Frigo-Trans and its affiliated company BPL, both of which specialise in healthcare logistics across Europe.
The acquisitions enhance UPS Healthcare’s capabilities, addressing the growing demand for temperature-controlled and time-sensitive logistics solutions globally. Frigo-Trans operates a network offering temperature-controlled storage, ranging from cryopreservation (-196°C) to ambient conditions (+15°C to +25°C), alongside Pan-European cold chain transportation. This is complemented by BPL’s expertise in time-critical freight forwarding, further strengthening UPS Healthcare’s services in Europe.
Frigo-Trans provides warehouse and transportation solutions for pharmaceutical and biotech clients. It operates a cold chain transportation network across Europe, supported by specialised distribution facilities. Additional services include packaging, handling, and inventory management. The company is based in Fußgönheim, Germany.
BPL specialises in transport management for GDP-compliant shipments of time-sensitive and temperature-controlled goods. Its services include managing air and ocean freight carriers, as well as customs clearance. BPL primarily serves biopharma customers requiring strict temperature, quality, and delivery time standards. It is headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany.
