Volkswagen and Nacex launch first car boot delivery service in Spain

Volkswagen Spain and Nacex have announced the launch of We Deliver, a delivery service to allow users to receive parcels in their car boots. Recently in November 2018, Nacex opened a 23,000 sq m cross-docking platform in Madrid, and therefore considers itself well-equipped to serve its customer base there.

We Deliver is the first car boot delivery service in Spain, and the first to be launched within the Volkswagen We platform outside of Germany, with the aim to bring together the brand’s digital mobility services.

The user of a Volkswagen car needs to be registered in the Volkswagen We platform. If not, the customer will be able to register upon receiving an e-mail from Nacex. One of the delivery options will be to have the package delivered in the car.

The customer must give its consent to Volkswagen and provide a time slot and the area where the car is parked. When Nacex’s couriers are close to the vehicle, they will be able to locate it by using a specific app which has been developed for their devices. Couriers will then request the unlocking of the vehicle, and Volkswagen’s systems will authorise it upon verification. Couriers will have 30 seconds to open the boot and leave the package, and then request the locking of the boot. If the courier sends the unlocking request but does not open the boot, the car automatically closes after 30 seconds.

According to Logista, with the rise of e-commerce and orders delivery, We Deliver will facilitate package deliveries, allowing customers to benefit from a quick and convenient service and fewer failed delivery attempts.

Manuel Orihuela, Deputy General Manager at Nacex, said: “We are offering our customers an innovative service based on technology and security that will simplify their delivery experience”.

Pedro Mateos, Head of Customer Experience at Volkswagen Spain, said: “In Nacex we have found an ideal partner thanks to its experience in the industry, the size of its Spanish network and its innovation efforts”.

Nacex will provide the service throughout mainland Spain, being the first company to offer this service to its clients. Its couriers will receive training on this new service in the coming weeks, so that they will be able to make deliveries to more than 20,000 Volkswagen vehicles.

Testing will begin in July, and it is expected that Nacex will start to offer the service in October. We Deliver will then activate for all Volkswagen vehicles with the Car-Net Security & Service function “remote lock & unlock”. We Park and We Experience will also be tested.
