The huge challenge facing governments and businesses as they attempt to reduce carbon emissions is currently made even more difficult by the diverse range of targets and baselines. It is incredibly difficult to assess real progress. However, what is most worrying is the proportion of companies in the industry which, as yet, do not measure their emissions. Without measurement, it is impossible to put in place carbon reduction programmes or track progress.
Ti’s latest whitepaper, in collaboration with the Foundation for Future Supply Chain, examines some of the key environmental targets and baselines set by inter-governmental and industry organizations, governments and businesses. It also includes survey findings identifying the dearth of carbon emissions measurement currently being undertaken in the industry. Finally, the paper suggests policy recommendations for increasing the level of emissions measurement, without which government targets are far less likely to be met.
